it’s hot outside for many of us these days – nyc has already seen several 100 degree+ days, and that means it can be a challenge to figure out what to wear to work. what do i do? well, i’ve come up with something i like to call the commute suit. i think a lot of people probably have a variation of this, especially if they work in an office that’s freezing and they commute by public transportation where you have no idea if they will even have the air conditioning turned on. anyway – let’s get to the good stuff – the looks!
[blazer: ASOS Curve]
[ruffle tank: OneStopPlus]
[teal plus size belt: ASOS Curve]
[pencil skirt: IGIGI]
[platform black heel: dv8 pumps vixen platform]
[gold cross bracelet: ASOS]
[aqua skull bracelet: Jules Smith]
[purple sunglasses: ASOS]
[white purse: MIA Bag]
the peplum is definitely a hot look for the season, and this look will keep you cool while commuting (just take off the blazer!) and keep you looking fly in the office. the skirt you should have as a staple in your closet for every season ANYWAY ladies. the ruffle on the shirt will just peek out, repeating the slight ruffle of the peplum. the aqua in the belt (which you should wear OVER the blazer) repeats in the bracelet. the white of the bag (which kind of looks like chanel, amirite?) pops with the white shirt (which you should wear tucked in) and the high heeled platform will keep you looking like you’re at the top of your game. this look would also work great with a closed toe ballet flat in black, if you’re not the heel wearing type!
if you work somewhere a little more casual or if you have to be outside during the day for an extended period of time, this look will keep you a little more on the cool side while still remaining stylish and upscale. it’s really about keeping it simple but taking it over the top with the accessories. this look has a nice mix of colors, as well – very big for this season. you can always throw a blazer (white or black) on top of this look, as well, for inside. or even a little sweater.
these are just two ideas for summer – more to come! would you rock either of these? how would you change them up?
