have you ever shopped at a dots? i had never set foot in one, and i’d never really heard anyone talk about dots before a month or so ago. the folks at dots reached out to me and asked me to stop by a store in raleigh to shop with a $25 gift card. so, i took the opportunity to stop by and put together some outfits, check out the accessories section, and take a bunch of photos. (shout out to my boyfriend for the excellent help at the “shoot!”)
i’m went to a charity gala april for dress for success. not familiar with dress for success? they’re a non-profit organization that provides interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development assistance to low-income women. they’re active in over 75 cities, and i really believe in their mission wholeheartedly.
the theme of the gala was beach chic, which is a lot harder to pull off than it sounds! especially as a new yorker who dresses in black unless she’s actually ON the beach. how does one dress up … while still looking beach appropriate? i tried on just about everything in my closet that is even remotely appropriate, and here are some of the ideas that i came up with!
i’ve shopped at debenhams before, and i know tons of you have, too. but i’ve never shopped their for a purse or pocketbook or clutch or anything. that’s all about to change. not only are many of the bags they have super chic, they’re also not crazy outrageous expensive. you can tell they’re probably well-made for the amount that you’re spending, too.

they say you shouldn’t buy expensive sunglasses because ultimately you’ll probably lose them or break them. well, i say you SHOULD buy expensive sunglasses precisely because if they are expensive you are much more likely to take care of them and know exactly where they are at all times. and if you’re going to have an expensive, nice pair of eyewear this summer, why not buy a pair that’s on sale, right? right.
