here are the latest looks from the runways that i love the look of, and here’s a peak at how you can translate them for plus size.

designers seem to be taking inspiration from the 70′s with lots of maxi-length pieces.  this is good news for the taller curvier girls, but shorter curvier girls should remember that maxi lengths can swallow up their frames.  imitate this look, from rag and bone, by choosing a striped top, like this one from forever21+, and a long black skirt, like this one from fashion to figure.

this look from elie tahari will work well on everyone. you just have to remember to keep your proportions balanced by belting the vest. try this faux fur vest from michael kors (on sale now!), just be sure to throw some kind of skinny belt on top. even just a long piece of leather will work, which you can snag at fabric stores. wide leg pants are going to be in style, which is great for us curvy ladies.  wide legs look really, really good on most of us.  especially when tailored properly. try these wide leg pants from not your daughter’s jeans or these super wide trousers from newport news.

carolina herrera sent this long and lean silouhette down the runway, and while we may not be long and lean, most of us can pull off a maxi dress if it’s cut right. and, when it comes to maxi lengths, asos curve is going to offer you some of the most stylish pieces. this dress from asos curve is perfect to pull this look off. and you can bet that you’ll be wearing this for at least another year.

so the key to dressing in the upcoming seasons will be to remember the long silouhette is in.  that means wide leg pants, lots of black on the legs, and lots of maxi-length items.  fur will continue to be around, teal and orange are going to be the hot colors along with lots of beige and other neutrals.  keep it all well-proportioned with belts and big bangles, and you should be all set.
